Johanna Jackson was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1972. She received a MFA from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, California. 

Jackson's recent solo and group exhibitions include "House of Dreamers" at the Boghossian Foundation in Brussels, Belgium (2023); "Dynamics of Flow" co-curated by Johanna Jackson, Matt Distel, and Derek Velasquez at the Carnegie Art Center in Covington, Kentucky (2023); "The Chimes We Find" at 12.26 in Dallas, Texas (2022); "Sirkus" at NOON Projects in New York, New York (2022); Tennis Elbow at The Journal Gallery in New York, New York (2021); "The Table: Johanna Jackson" at 12.26 in Dallas, Texas (2019); and "Opening a Can" at Et. Work by Jackson is held in the public collections of the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, California; and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in San Francisco, California.
