Text
Between buildings. Locality. Street level.
The larger oil drawings, titled Array series, are amassed from the last four years of my Caddi B Backspace project. (CB Backspace is an invented space built in the gated lot behind my studio to frame Caddi B sculpture, with the purpose of exploring compression, seriality and maneuverability between mediums. The project insists on the singular form, Caddi B, as its matrix. Its central mechanism is looping, continually self-referential as it compresses between surfaces onto flat media: prints, drawings, wall projections.)
The Array series reflects time spent considering and studying techniques in printmaking and alternative photography as a way to create a drawn image that feels in flux—shifting between processes, arranging sheens, surfaces, and compressed layers.
There is an embeddedness I am after—an arrival that unfolds over time and cannot be short- circuited. Repetition is part of it. The drawings claw themselves into existence out of time that is stacked on time, compounded within its space— stored , folded, seeped.
Storefront. Back alley back yard. Back space. Front studio.
